Lexington - No Estrogen Allowed

Most of the Gracepoint dudes live in an apartment complex in South Davis called Lexington. This includes sophomores, juniors, seniors, unmarried male staff members, etc. It's nice to have brothers live in the same area, but other than that, girls are basically forbidden to step foot in it.

Lexington does have a "No Girls after 10PM" policy, which, I guess, is understandable. Instead of "After 10PM," it's more like "No Girls Ever." Of course, they won't ever say this, but actions speak louder than words.

Gracepoint girls are extremely discouraged from visiting the Lexington house. I'm still not sure why. Does the staff really think that the Lexington boys are uncontrollable beasts that will be extremely tempted to rape them?

Whenever a girl (or my girlfriend), walks into my apartment, it's like a flower has bloomed in a nest of smelly socks. There's something about girls that make you want to hear their encouragements, that make you want to treat them with respect, that make you want them to enjoy themselves, etc.

Unfortunately, these poor bros are missing out. They barely get any female interaction. Whenever I'm with one of these guys on campus and one of my girl friends casually approaches us to greet me, I'm always polite and introduce her to the guy I'm with. What do these girls say when I ask them later on how they felt about my bro? "Awkward...."

One of my girl friends went to the Lexington house for a group project. What did she say later? "Awkward..."

Wake up! Half the world is made up of beautiful females, and a crap ton of you guys treat them as a pubescent middle school runt would approach girls.

  1. oh my goodness...finally a new kid from gracepoint who is willing to step up to the plate and tell the world about gracepoint. i went gp davis for almost 5 years and i left in 2010 (i graduated in 2010). I left on the worst note possible. i'd love to get in touch with u and just talk to u about gracepoint, ahaha. i actually wanna see how they're doing nowadays and if things have changed for the better. From your blog, it seems like it hasn't, but maybe they are more laxed on other things? i don't know. as much as being traumatized by them...forever, i try to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they will change someday...?

anyway, do post more. =] thanks

  2. Hey! Good for you for realizing this. And it's not just at Davis. There's major gender/sex segregation at the other GP churches as well. In Berkeley, a whole bunch of guys live together in Dana House, then just-graduated UC Berkeley girls live together in houses on suburban Bayfarm Island in Alameda. And although in youth group, kids can play with each other in sports and whatever, leaders always separate them.
These Christian guys just seem hella gay a lot of the times, as gay as professional football.
Found this blog post listing other problems of gracepoint: http://gracepointexposed.blogspot.com/2010/05/if-you-would-want-complete-in-depth.html
Good luck on your studies and spiritual growth in Davis.
